The Milanese Class was the one I attended. I had an absolutely wonderful time.
The lace is in the same category as the whole retreat in that is "freely moving" and with very few pins.
We only used pins on the outside edges of the Meandering tapes which  can be viewed in the pictures below.

The tape/braids in Milanese are decorated. The decoration is amazing in way it almost completely pinless.
The designs are worked with a turning stitch which can reverse and pull openings in the cloth stitch.
Open areas can be filled in with traditional fillings.
