More about Black Chantilly

The 19th centuryChantilly lace made around Chantilly, France was made
from Grenadine silk which was a non boiled silk, which is very fine
and what's most important, really black. Not grey-black as the silk used
in Belgium. This is a a good way to distinguish French Chantilly from Belgian Chantilly. Another difference is the lace is stiffer with the non-boiled silk.
