  • 3: Tjevoli (unscrewable head to fit on an already prepared amount of thread, a bit like the Cottier but another patent)
  • 4: Lorraine(Mirecourt)
  • 5: Lille
  • 6 & 7: Flanders
  • 8: ordinary French bobbin
  • 9: Maurienne (fir-tree-like shape)
  • 10: Tignes
  • 1,2&3: Craponne bobbins, where metallic thread was used to make lace for church, so the part devoted to the thread is more important than for linen
  • 4 Centre of France
  • 5 ivory Normandy bobbin
  • 6,7,8,9: Normandy, note that #9 has a ring (like the Lorraine one on the other picture: it is called marriage bobbin. The tradition wanted that the fiance made the bobbins with two rings and cut off one on the day of the marriage to show that the couple was only one person)
