The only *german* lace is Schneeberger lace, invented in the iron mountain by a director of the lacemaking school in Schneeberg, 19th century. It is a tape lace, with about 6 pairs and it was invented to help lacemakers concur with machine lace. Schneeberg has a braid around and special ways to work the worker into it.I don't have any pictures as yet but here is one at another site:
