Beveren Lace

Beveren lace typically has a straight picot headside and a design of
cloth stitch flowers and leaves set into point ground that is sometimes
decorated with tallies.  Technically it is the only point ground lace where
the pin supporting the worker from the cloth stitch area is routinely
outside the gimp.

Beveren is one of the Point Ground laces (sometimes called Dutch Lille) which has a specific light unbraided mesh. Bevern motifs have a slightly chunky squared look to the curves...rather like the Mechelins, and more than the other point ground laces. This piece ranks with the Mechelins in complexity and difficulty though it uses a slightly larger thread.
