One of the Tape laces, Battenberg is the simplest and has the least amount of hand worked fillings. The tape used is more dense than Princess lace tapes and are also straight and plain. |

They come solid or with a small open area down the center. The older Battenberg tape had to be gathered to fit around curves. The newer ones have a thread stitched on the edges that can be pulled to gather and gives a neater appearance. |

Battenberg lace was very popular in the 30's and 40's and it is not uncommon to find a half-done project attached to a preprinted colored fabric, in antiques linen collections. |
