The lace fan
by Vivien Dewar
The pattern was designed by Bridget Cook (Springett's pattern)   "Small Buck's Point fan"  diameter 24cm
Made in Mettler 60/2 with DMC perle 8 gimps
I bought the fan sticks with the pattern and attached the two with wallpaper paste following guidance from arachne members.

After making a cross stitch picture (in pre BL days) and a bobbin lace mat for two of my husband's aunts' golden weddings I wanted to make something for a third aunt who sadly won't ever have a "big" wedding anniversary. The fan was the idea, but I'm not sure if I can part with it as it was my first and most complex Buck's effort to date. I'm about to start a second one so we'll see!

my "best bits"

"runner"

I made this Torchon runner form the  Shelley Canning pattern published in "Lace 91"
Made in Madeira tanne 30 and measures about 16cm x 54cm. Using 80 pairs of bobbins this was my first big project, begun in the Spring of 1999 about 4 months after I did my first ever lace.

"hankie"

Glove hankerchief from pattern in Geraldine Stott's "Visual Introduction to Buck's Point Lace"
Made in Madeira tanne 50 during Summer 2000

"Afterthoughts"

from the pattern by Sandi Woods
" Special Effects in Bobbin lace"
I used Gutterman Silk. My second ever piece of braid lace

(I still dream about her Sea Swirl, & Tamara's Swan!)
