Made for Lori Howe with a pattern Tamara designed.
It has been published in the Bulletin
of the IOLI (winter '97-'98; vol. 18, #2), in two sizes and made here in an inbetween size. to suit the thread.
 by Diana Smith of England

The original pattern
came from the late Vi Bullard
and was sold for charity

by Noelene Lafferty in Cooma, Australia

The butterfly is made from a pattern
in an Anna magazine, about 1997
issue I think, and in size #40 DMC
cordonnet cotton.   I made it

by Heather of Canada

It was from a pattern
leaflet from the 60's perhaps,
bought from the thrift store specifically
for that little butterfly pattern.

by Pene Piip of US

"I finished it at the 1998 IOLI Convention
in San Diego. I wanted to use a pattern
from a UK Lace Guild calendar, but
when I started pricking the pattern I
realized that each wing wasn't
mirror-image, so I used one side,
trued it up, & flipped it for the other wing.
The spider on the butterfly body is a
personal embellishment of my own
devising. It also has 2 seed beads for eyes."
