Ewa's Lace Page

This is my first idea after I got the ear mufflers for X-mas from D.H. As they were of the masculine type, black and dreary, I wanted to cheer them up and make them more feminin. This flower is from an old Swedish lace, and by lifting the flower out from its original place in  the lace, adapting it to suit my need and idea, this is the result. I used Bocken´s Linnen Thread 90/2.
I kept adding and taking out bobbins as the need arose, I did not count them, so I can not let you know the amount! But I did enjoy making the lot while I was at it. Hope you find them worth while looking at.
The second picture in the Ms Christina serie:
The same X-mas I was given another set of mufflers by one of our smaller grandcildren. These were a bit different as they are "clip ons" over the ears without a grip over the head. As I did not want  the risk of loosing one or the other, I decided to have a piece of velvet band to hold them together. I also made a vine in lace to make it more festive. On one ear is a pear and on the other is an apple.
I used Bocken´s Linnen thread 90/2.
This picture, no 3:When I had got the wig on the polystyrene head and the muffler in place, the face looked so naked, in my opinion. I felt like doing something to brighten it a bit. To give it a it more character. Looked at several old laceflounces and found a fernleaf. Fiddling with the pattern made from copying a picture. The original is rather curved, but by stretching it to fit the arch of the eyebrow I was on my way. I used cotton machine sewing thread from a textile-factory, I do not know the number, but it is a bit thicker than average. The eye-brows are fastened to the head, ( the polystyren that is) with Duchess lace pins.
