Collars and Cuffs
This is an  attempt at displaying different collar and cuff styles and the period from which they came
If you have any information about collars and cuff and the period from which they came let me know please.

The collar on the left gives you an idea how the collar on the right might be worn. The Painting left was done in 1674.  This bib fronted (rabat) collar was popular about 1660- 1680 Unlike the collar above though, it was tied in the back by a very narrow band which passes around the the back of the neck and is tied in front. 
The collar above could have been worn reversed with the divided panels in back but was probably worn by a woman with her hair tied up thus reveling all the lace.

Collar Styles and their corresponding dates

Shawl collar about 1835-1845

Bertha Collar about 1850-1860 - worn around low cut dresses.
Those with a smaller inner ring appear popular around 1890- 1900
